My favourite places for taking natural and timeless portraits

I am spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful places to take my clients for their photo shoots. I am a lover of the great outdoors and I’m surrounded by stunning countryside in all directions from my base in Sundridge, Kent.

One of my favourite locations happens to be the closest, Emmetts Gardens, right on the top of the hill in Ide Hill and owned by the National Trust. There is all year round interest at this magical spot, with Camellias, Rhododendrons and Bluebells in the spring and amazing autumnal hues of the Acer trees in the fall.

Another favourite haunt of mine is Riverhill Gardens on the South side of Sevenoaks, with stunning views over the Weald of Kent and beyond, towards the South Downs and the coast. This is a great walk to do with families, as there is plenty to see and do at all times of the year.

The property and grounds were on ‘Country House Rescue’ several years ago and much investment has gone into providing a wonderful variety of events and workshops, including an annual sculpture exhibition. On top of all that, there is a resident ‘Yeti’, Den building and a challenging playground for the children.

When I take my clients on location shoots, they are always surprised at how much fun they have! This family were no exception – instead of being camera shy and feeling awkward, they embraced being centre stage and enjoyed walking around the fabulous gardens at Emmetts, Kent. Here are some of the photographs from that late summer afternoon…
